FY2024 DRINKING WATER STATE REVOLVING FUND (DWSRF) PROJECT

The Village of Milford announces a Public Meeting regarding its Project Planning Document for proposed drinking water system improvements in the Village. The purpose of the meeting is to not only inform, but to seek and gather input from people that will be affected. Comments and viewpoints from the public are encouraged on the proposed projects for which the Village intends to seek low interest Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan assistance.

The Project Plan improvements are comprised of water main replacement projects in four (4) different areas of the Village and replacement of lead and galvanized water service lines. These projects are referenced as follows:

  1. Replacement of the water main on East Street from Summit Street to Commerce Road. The water main in this area is undersized and experiences low pressure issues during high demand periods. The work site will be restored upon completion. The impact of the project will be improved ability of the Village to provide reliable drinking water.
  2. Replacement of the water main on Elizabeth Street from the north end of Elizabeth Street to Commerce Road. In addition, a loop will be created by installing additional water main piping along Pleasure Street between Elizabeth Street and Commerce Road for reliability and redundancy purposes. The water main in this area is undersized. The work site will be restored upon completion. The impact of the project will be improved ability of the Village to provide reliable drinking water.
  3. Replacement of the water main on Crystal Street from Commerce to Atlantic. The water main in this area is undersized. The work site will be restored upon completion. The impact of the project will be improved ability of the Village to provide reliable drinking water.
  4. Install a new raw water transmission main on Family Drive, along Commerce, Highland, and Liberty Streets, to connect to the existing Water Treatment Plant. The work site will be restored upon completion. The impact of the project will be improved ability of the Village to provide reliable drinking water.
  5. Replacement of 77 galvanized service lines known to have been previously attached to lead.

The temporary impact of construction activities will be minimized through mitigation measures specified in the contract documents. Adverse impacts on historical, archaeological, geographic, or cultural areas are not expected. These projects are necessary to ensure that the Village can maintain drinking water service to residents. The costs of these projects are currently estimated as follows, all of which is being sought through the DWSRF program:
