- HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE - The Village of Milford, in conjunction with Milford Township, sets aside one day a year, usually the third Saturday in May, to collect household hazardous waste.
GUIDELINES FOR DISPOSAL: · Gather the household chemicals that you no longer use and bring them to the Milford Civic Center on the designated day. Village/Township personnel, under supervision of trained chemical technicians, will remove the hazardous waste from your vehicle. Containers should not exceed 5 gallons of liquid or 40 pounds of solid waste. Do not mix hazardous wastes together; keep in original containers with the original labels intact. If the Village or Township officials or the on-site technicians deem an item to be unacceptable, it will be returned to the resident. The resident will be given a phone number to obtain information on the appropriate disposal method.
Informational flyers and registration forms are mailed to residents prior to the Household Hazardous Collection day. The average American household stores three to ten gallons of hazardous chemicals that they no longer use in the kitchen, basement, shed or garage. Improper disposal of these materials can present a significant threat to the environment. Participating in this hazardous waste day will ensure that your household chemicals will be either recycled or disposed of properly.
