VILLAGE OF MILFORD

REGULAR MEETING                                                                                      August 5, 2009

PARKS & RECREATION                                                                                          7:30 P.M.

Chairperson Brien Worrell called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. and determined a quorum was present.

PRESENT     Chairperson Brien Worrell, Commissioners Jennifer Davis, Dean Porter, John McDaniels, Ray Theriault, Jared Kresnak and Michael Allen

ABSENT       Commissioners Myles Davis and John Parks

APPROVAL OF MINUTES            Regular Meeting of June 3, 2009

PR-09-07       J. Davis moved, Theriault seconded, to accept the minutes of the June 3, 2009 meeting as presented. Motion CARRIED.

CALL TO THE PUBLIC

Ric Mueller, FOMSP (Friends of Milford Skate Park) presented to the commission the two preferred choices for the location of the skate park project. He displayed a map showing the two possible sites, HCMA and Hubbell Pond Park and distributed paperwork to those present.  He needs the Parks & Recreation commission to endorse one site so he may have it approved by Village Council.  Once that has been done, the FOMSP plans to apply for a grant.  Mr. Mueller also reminded the commission that he needs a current Parks & Recreation Master Plan from the Village to accompany his grant application.  Worrell assured him that the commission will have it ready for him well before his deadline.

PR-09-08       J. Davis moved, McDaniels seconded that after further study and on the recommendation of the FOMSP the Commission endorses the conceptual consideration of the site known as HCMA for the skate park, according to the 8/4/09 concept drawing as presented. Motion CARRIED.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS             Master Plan

Worrell stated that the new master plan has to be completed in the next 4 months.  Everyone should be working on it and the secretary will locate the latest master plan original and provide copies.

M.Davis & Parks were not at the meeting for an update.  It was noted that we need to alert them to the contact information that was included in our packet from Oakland County to maybe get some funding.  Worrell suggested they give us a final report  at our November meeting.

NEW BUSINESS                             Election of Officers

Worrell stated that he would now move from being Vice Chairperson and become the Chairperson for the P & R Commission.  He explained that normally the Vice Chairperson moved up to Chairperson but that could be revisited before next year if needed and asked for volunteers.

Kresnak volunteered to serve as Vice Chairperson.

PR-09-09       J. Davis moved, Allen seconded to elect Kresnak as Vice Chairperson of the P & R Commission for the term of 2009-2010.  Motion CARRIED.

COMMISSIONERS REMARKS 

It was determined that the next regular meeting will be September 2, 2009

Worrell commented that we need to include Boo Bash and master plan on next month’s agenda.
