VILLAGE OF MILFORD

REGULAR MEETING                                                                                     MARCH 4, 2009

PARKS & RECREATION                                                                                          7:30 P.M.

Vice Chairperson Worrell called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and determined a quorum was present.

PRESENT     Vice Chairperson Brien Worrell, Commissioners Dean Porter, Michael Allen, Myles Davis, John McDaniels and John Parks

ABSENT       Chairperson Jennifer Davis; Commissioners Raymond Theriault and Jared Kresnak

APPROVAL OF MINUTES         Regular Meeting of February 4, 2009

PR-09-03       Porter moved, Allen seconded, to accept the minutes of the February 4, 2009 meeting as amended.  Add Davis as present and add Allen as absent.

Add Allen as present or absent. Motion CARRIED.

CALL TO THE PUBLIC

It was questioned how bands were selected for the “Concerts in the Park”.  Audience member recommended having a community talent show.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Summer Concerts

Worrell stated he would like to see a committee formed to handle the summer concerts.  The committee would be sponsored by P&R.  Commission members that were present agreed with this idea.  D. Porter offered to work toward forming the committee.  They still hoped J. Kinzinger would be involved in the concerts on a coaching level.  Tom Zakarian, resident of Commerce Twp., stated he would like to work on the Committee.  He has a Marketing and music background.  Don Green, Milford Township Supervisor, stated he had approximately 14 individuals who would like to volunteer time toward the concerts.  It was stated that the committee should have Village and Township P & R liasons.

PR-09-04       McDaniels moved, Myles seconded for a committee to be formed as soon as possible to handle the Concerts in the Park.  The committee will assign officers and begin work on getting bands for this years’ concert.  Motion CARRIED.

Central Park River Edge Planning

Information was received from a local company with recommendations for native plant edgings.  Copies will be distributed for the next meeting.  Master Plan drawing dated 2005 was distributed.  Discussion continued on placement of canoe landing and reviewing/revising master plan.

Budget

Worrell suggested some of the capital outlay money in this years’ budget be applied to a joint purchase of a movie projector.  Up to five other communities may be involved in this joint purchase.

PR-09-05       Porter moved, McDaniels seconded to approve recommended budget for submission adding joint purchase of movie project under Capital Outlay along with plantings and picnic tables for the trail.  Motion CARRIED.

COMMISSIONERS REMARKS 

McDaniels inquired whether P&R and MBA should work jointly on farmers market.
