CALL TO THE PUBLIC
Worrell asked if there was anyone who wished to address the Commission on an item that was not on the agenda.
Worrell explained to the students how the Parks & Recreation Committee works and what it does.
Joe Dolan, 809 Squire Lane, representative of the Milford Athletic Club of Huron Valley (MAC), requested consideration to hold a criterium (crit) in the Village of Milford. He explained that it was a short multi-lap closed circuit competitive road cycling race. He passed out literature and a proposed route to the commission. A possible date of 8/16/09 was discussed. Worrell was concerned about closing Main Street two weekends in a row in August and suggested maybe looking at 7/5/09 as a possible date. Mr. Dolan has met with the Chamber and reported the response was favorable.
PR-08-15 Porter moved, McDaniels seconded to endorse the concept of the crit race in the Village and encouraged the MAC to go to the DDA and Village Council for approval.Motion CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Boo Bash Follow Up
Theriault reported that he and Worrell passed out over $125.00 in candy. It was a huge success and next year a sign is needed to tell everyone who we are.
Worrell suggested maybe next year we should give out an award for the best decorated home and perhaps do it for Christmas also.
Central Park River Edge Planning
Worrell did not have any luck finding the latest plan by Grissim. M. Davis emailed everyone the latest one he had prior to the meeting. Parks said DDA is receptive to a planned planting at Central Park. M. Davis volunteered to go to DDA director with what we have. Funding for the project will have to be planned and a decision needs to be made regarding who will help with the planting and when it would be done. Arbor or Earth Day were suggested. M. Davis will report back at our January meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Transitioning Members
William Serchak resigned and is now on the Village Planning Commission. Mike Allen, 634 Hickory, is present and would like to apply for the opening on Park’s & Recreation. Kresnak told him to send a letter to Ann Collins and Arthur Shufflebarger.
COMMISSIONERS REMARKS
Worrell asked that this be on all agendas from now on.
Worrell reported that the bike trail in both the Village & Township are moving along quite well as planned.
Porter is looking for volunteers to help with the ice rink. He asked administration to contact DPS to make sure they remember the black fence, the fire pit, 3 picnic tables, and make sure the pump is working.
Worrell asked that M. Davis, the ice rink, and budget be put on the agenda for January.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
