NEW BUSINESS
Introduce Ballot Proposal Language
Chris Malafouris, 390 Peters Rd., spoke to Council expressing his concerns over what he felt to be poor conditions of Peters Rd., the heavy traffic and numerous speeders. He felt Peters Rd. should be a priority on the Village’s maintenance list.
President Nader stated that working with the current budget situation, DPS was doing the best they could.
CM-05-091-09 Kostin moved, Rusas seconded, to introduce ballot language as presented. Motion CARRIED.
Set Date for Special Council Meeting to Hold Public Hearing to Consider Adoption of Ballot Language
CM-05-092-09 Rusas moved, Kostin seconded, to set a Special Council Meeting on June 22, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., for the purpose of holding a Public Hearing to consider adoption of ballot language. Motion CARRIED.
Set Dangerous Building Hearing
CM-05-093-09 Heer moved, Kostin seconded, to set the dangerous building hearing for June 15, 2009. Motion CARRIED.
Mr. Shufflebarger stated a letter was received from Rodney Sabourin, Milford Housing, LLC, dated May 18, 2009, which requested Council postpone the agenda item for 30 days, as he did not have time to prepare for this evening’s meeting. Mr Shufflebarger stated that Council would only be setting a date for the hearing, and this would give Mr. Sabourin four weeks to prepare for the hearing.
Determine CDBG Stimulus Project
Mr. Shufflegbarger stated the Village was eligible for stimulus money through Oakland County’s CDBG program. The project has to be shovel ready. Two projects were suggested: handicap sidewalk ramps and relining of sanitary sewer mains. He felt the sanitary sewer relining project was best suited. Investigation has been completed on the sanitary sewer mains and a bid package is complete from prior work, requiring some updating. He felt approximately $160,000 of the $285,000 project would be in the low-to-moderate income area, which is required for CDBG projects. He estimated the application would be for approximately $200,000.
CM-05-094-09 Rusas moved, Heer seconded, to use the sanitary sewer main relining as the Village of Milford’s CDBG-R stimulus application project. Motion CARRIED.
CALL TO THE PUBLIC
Nader asked if there was anyone who wished to address Council on an item that was not on the agenda. There was no response.
